From House to Home: The Westerly’s Person-Centered Approach to Senior Living
May 16, 2025
What turns a beautiful building into a true home? At The Westerly Pewaukee, it’s not just the indoor pool, tea room, or rooftop deck - it’s the way residents are greeted by name, how families feel heard and supported, and the personal touches that shape everyday life.
Residents and their families continue to share how The Westerly has exceeded expectations, offering comfort and a true sense of belonging.
“Mara, the Executive Director, and her team are amazing,” says one family member. “We have felt so welcome, and she took so much time to make sure we were happy with the big move. The facility is gorgeous, and the amenities are fantastic. We couldn’t be happier and are excited for this big transition. Having a great team in charge brings a lot of comfort to our family.” These sentiments are echoed by others, like Kevin Schuh, whose father is set to move in this fall.
“Even before move-in, the peace of mind we’ve felt as a family has been incredible,” he shares. “Mara and her team took the time to answer every question and made us feel truly supported throughout this process.”
And Kassi Carlsen calls The Westerly “a luxurious senior living unlike anything you’ve seen before,” highlighting the inviting environment and deeply caring staff.
“We believe every interaction matters,” says Executive Director Mara Henningsen. “Our goal is to create a place where residents are valued and genuinely connected – not only to our team, but to each other.”
Life at The Westerly is shaped by personal stories - from resident-led social hours to staff who know everyone by name. The environment encourages independence while making it easy to connect, offering the freedom to stay active with the comfort of community always close by.
Whether it’s sharing tea in the sunlit lounge or joining a neighbor for a swim, residents are invited to live on their terms - while knowing they’re never alone.
The Westerly plans to launch its dedicated Memory Care community in July - thoughtfully designed to offer connection and support. Families are welcome to tour the new studio spaces and pre-book rooms ahead of the opening.
